Hostelling International - Austin is a unique non-profit organization offering budget accommodations for travelers of all ages from around the world. With the help of volunteers, we hope to expand our guest services and community programs. Hostelling International-Austin's volunteer Opportunities

Do you love Austin and want to show it off to visitors from around the world?

We are looking for volunteers to connect travelers to Austin. Volunteers take hostellers to summer festivals, free days at museums, gallery tours, film nights, tours of downtown and UT campus, pub crawls, live music outings, hiking/cycling excursions and more. Or you can plan your own outing! Staff will publicize the information and put out a sign up sheet. You meet your group of travelers at the hostel and bring them to the activity.

Do you like to cook and meet people from around the world?

We are looking for volunteers to host weekly dinners at the hostel for our guests. Food is provided by hostel--we are looking for volunteers to prepare dinner, interact with guests and assist with clean up. Staff will publicize the dinner and put out a sign up sheet.

Do you want to share your international travel experiences with first time travelers?

We are looking for passionate travelers that are interested in educating our community on various aspects of world travel including planning a trip, safety, health, cross cultural sensitivity, traveling solo as a woman, vegetarian/vegan travel and traveling with children. If you are interested in giving presentations to community groups, we will provide training and resources.

Do you enjoy learning about other countries and working with kids?

We are looking for volunteers to help with our Cultural Kitchen program in both Austin and San Antonio. This program gives middle and high school students an opportunity to learn about other countries, plan and prepare a meal for hostellers, and meet people from around the world. Are you looking for a group volunteer project?

We have a ton of great volunteer opportunities for groups of 5+ individuals. Projects include:

• Outdoor beautification/trail pick up
• Kitchen clean up (thorough cleaning of guest kitchen, including painting)
• Paint projects (our hostel always needs a fresh coat of colorful paint in the dorm rooms, common area, etc.)
• Cook Thanksgiving, Christmas or any other holiday meal for guests
• Donation Drive at your school or work of kitchen supplies, books & dvds)
