Austin, Heart of Texas Hill Country
Austin is more than just the capital of Texas, it's the Live Music Capital of the World! With dozens of bands playing every night of the week, you're sure to find something to delight your ears. Be sure to ask our staff about their favorite local bands and venues!
We are also located right at the gate of the Texas Hill country, with gorgeous hiking and biking trails starting right at our doorstep in the Austin Greenbelt.

We're also well-known for being an independent film mecca, with film festivals, screenings, and movie shoots occuring all year long. Be sure to check out the Alamo Drafthouse while you're here - great independent and first run movies, with food and drinks brought to you while you watch!

HI-Austin Newsletter!
I'm proud to say that we have had a wonderful year! Through this Newsletter, we hope to shine light on who what we've been up to this past year. Our educational programs continue to grow as we are; teaching monthly classes at REI, broadening our programs with the Girls Scouts, and initiating a travel club at UT. Our hostel overnights have increased, bringing TrekAmerica and other International groups to stay with us. Through grants and donations, we've been able to make some substantial updates including repainting all our dorm rooms, installing a security system and purchasing new linens for all 42 beds.
